These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Akin mobile application (the "App"), provided by Akin ("Akin," "we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

The App is licensed, not sold, to you. Your license to use the App is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"), available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/, together with the additional terms set out below. Where the additional terms below add to or clarify the Standard EULA, both apply; the subscription, privacy, and contact terms on this page are specific to Akin.
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the App. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
Akin uses Sign in with Apple to create and secure your account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of the Apple ID you use to sign in and for the activity that happens under your account. The content you add — the people in your circle, your notes, journal entries, and check-in history — belongs to you. You are responsible for the accuracy of that content and for having any permission you need to store information about other people.
Akin offers an optional auto-renewable subscription, Akin Pro, which unlocks unlimited people, unlimited AI-drafted messages, deeper context, and additional features. A free tier is available with no subscription.
Pricing. Akin Pro is $6.99 per month or $49.99 per year. Prices are charged in your local currency and may vary by region; the price shown in the App at the time of purchase applies.
Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends, at the then-current price.
Managing and cancelling. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account. You can manage your subscription, turn off auto-renewal, or cancel at any time in your Apple ID account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device). Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund the current period.
Refunds. All purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. Refunds are subject to Apple's policies, and refund requests are made to Apple, not to Akin.
You agree to use the App only for lawful, personal purposes. You agree not to misuse the App — for example, by attempting to access it in an unauthorized way, interfering with its operation, reverse-engineering it except as permitted by law, using it to store or transmit unlawful content, or using it to harass or harm others. We may suspend or end your access if you use the App in a way that violates these Terms or the law.
Some Akin features use artificial intelligence to generate text, such as suggesting why now might be a good moment to reach out or drafting a message you could send. AI-generated suggestions are starting points for you to review, edit, and use as you see fit. You are responsible for what you actually send or save. AI output can be inaccurate or imperfect, and you should use your own judgment before relying on it.
You retain ownership of the content you create in the App. You grant us the limited permission needed to store, process, and display that content so the App can function for you — including sending relevant content to our service providers (such as our backend and AI providers) to deliver features you request. We do not sell your content, and we do not use it for advertising. How we handle your information is described in our Privacy Policy.
The App, including its design, branding, text, and software, is owned by Akin and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks, logos, or other brand features. The license to use the App is limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable, as described in the Standard EULA.
The App relies on third-party services to function, including Apple (sign-in, payments, and notifications), our backend provider, and our AI provider. Your use of those services through the App may be subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third parties.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your particular needs. Akin is a tool to help you stay connected; it does not guarantee any outcome in your relationships.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Akin will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the claim arose, or $50, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these limits may not apply to you.
You may stop using the App at any time and may request deletion of your account by contacting support@useakin.com. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the App. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will continue to apply.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the App or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where the Standard EULA or applicable consumer-protection law in your country provides otherwise.
